This is a game we’ve all been patiently waiting for since late 2010. Bethesda have been busy cooking up some fantastic features in the game so I’ve listed what each of them are below! Here are 8 features in Fallout 4 that we can’t wait to play with.
In-depth customization male or female customization and when I say in-depth, I mean it. You can quite literally sculpt the facial features however you desire. You want an overly proportioned nose? You can have it. Customizing your character’s appearance is something I love to do and I’m 100% positive I’ll be making some weird faces on these models! (As I did in Oblivion and Skyrim…)
One word…companions! One thing I’m sure we’ve all experimented with in Fallout 3 and New Vegas is the power to command companions! In the previous two games you could bring along an NPC with you on your travels. Along the way, said companions could “get in the way” of opposing fire or attack. This made for some great fun and interesting role-play value. In Fallout 4 you can use your dog (otherwise known as Dogmeat) as your companion, but if you don’t feel like bringing him (if he “dies” he’ll just be knocked out for a while) with you through radiation storms, you can leave him at a settlement.
This is something I am VERY excited for because we can actually customize like crazy with weapons and armor. The system allows for multitudes of combinations, including say…an aluminum baseball bat with blades, or how about a sniper laser rifle? Whatever we’re able to create, I’m really looking forward to this feature!
This next feature is something that I wished Fallout 3 and New Vegas had. That’s right, building your own settlements. At last we’ll be able to make our own save havens and outposts instead of finding random buildings or inns to sleep in for the night! On top of this, our settlements will be able to house trade shops for NPCs including caravans to go to and from other settlements. If you need supplies taken to go to a certain settlement, you can send a caravan there if need be. I gladly accept this feature with open arms!
The new perk system is a new addition to Fallout 4. Each time you level up you gain access to skills depending on your S.P.E.C.I.A.L attributes are. For example, Demolition Expert perk increases damage you do with explosives by 20%, with a 20% chance to disarm explosive traps. Some perks can be taken up to 5 times, increasing the effectiveness of the perk. With 5 points in the Demolition Expert perk you deal 100% more damage with explosives and have a 100% chance to disarm explosive traps. Personally I’m more excited for the Bloody Mess perk which basically increases your damage by 5% each time (up to 20%) and killing enemies causes them to explode. It was great fun in Fallout 3!
Continue playing even after the story is finished
This is probably the thing I’m looking forward to the most since it wasn’t possible to play after you had beaten the main story in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Instead you were forced to go back to a the previous save before the last mission to finish everything else of (if you wanted to). I’ll definitely be excited to see how part of the world changes after the story.
No level cap!
The level cap is what kinda bugged me about the previous two games. As I played through them, I was constantly reminded of the fact that I was soon reaching the end level and there would be no further progression. The exclusion of a level cap is another feature I welcome with open arms as it allows the player to experiment with different perks. Yay!
The weather system is new to the Fallout series in this game and it can either be your friend, or another enemy you need to survive against! For example there WILL be radiation storms so make sure you pack extra RadAway!
So these are some of the main features I’m sure we’re all looking forward to. So make sure your ready to return (or for the first time go) to the wasteland! I know I am.
