Happy May the Fourth! How’s your day going? Today we’re looking at just a fraction of what there is to do while waiting for Legion to launch.
So now that we know when the Legion expansion will hit, it’s a matter of knowing what to do while waiting for it. Do you stay subscribed to the game or take a break and find something else to keep you occupied in the meantime? It all comes down to whether you feel spending more money (or gold for tokens) to keep playing the game in it’s current state, and if you still have much to do in the game. I’m not talking just within the current expansion. There’s a whole lot of content ready to be done outside of Draenor too!Sure it’s old content but it doesn’t change the fact that you may or may not have done it, so there are still things to do. You can do things from getting old titles, old gear ready for Legion’s new wardrobe system, work on those ‘Glory of the’ achievements to get that mount you said you’ve been putting off getting, and a plethora of other things.
So why stay in Draenor farming Hellfire Citadel every week or sitting in your Garrison, waiting for that Battleground queue to pop? In fact I’ll help you out and provide you a list of things to do so you won’t have to look them up yourself. Keep in mind there’s still a whole lot more to do other than what I’ve listed here. If none of these suit you, there’s that Achievement window waiting for you to dig into.
1. Old legendary weapons
Now I’m not just talking getting these on your level 100s. I’m talking about getting them at level. Wouldn’t it feel epic to wield Shadowmourne on a level 80 or Illidan’s menacing Warglaives of Azzinoth? Today I finally managed to grab Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest on my level 85 Destruction Warlock and I’ve been having a heap of fun with it. The only legendaries I need are the ones at level 60 and the Warglaives of Azzinoth, although I’ll probably leave out the two level 60 legendaries because I’m not a huge fan of them, personally.
Check out the eight Legendary weapons available right now, from previous expansion content. They’ll require a raid or for you to be boosted through by a higher level player but they’re definitely worth getting! I’d also do a bit of research into what to do for each Legendary that requires a quest to obtain. If you require any help then I’d be more than happy to help since I have experience with each of the level 70-85 Legendaries at their respected levels. Just leave a message in the comments section and I’ll get back to you!
Old Legendary items still available:
- Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker – Various items required + Molten Core raid (LEVEL 60)
- Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros – Various items required + Molten Core raid (LEVEL 60)
- Warglaives of Azzinoth – Illidan Stormrage loot drop from the Black Temple raid (LEVEL 70)
- Thori’dal, the Stars’ Fury – Kil’jaeden loot drop from the Sunwell Plateau raid (LEVEL 70)
- Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings – Quest line in the 25-player mode Ulduar raid (LEVEL 80)
- Shadowmourne – Quest line in the Icecrown Citadel raid (LEVEL 80)
- Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa’s Rest – Quest line in the Firelands raid (LEVEL 85)
- Fangs of the Father – Quest line in the Dragon Soul raid (LEVEL 85)
2. Herald of the Titans
The Herald of the Titans achievement is one of the more difficult ones to achieve nowadays because it requires you to be a level 80 character with others of the same level and with gear no lower than item level 226 (232 for weapons), but I’d recommend adding gems and enchanting your gear wherever you can because the achievement isn’t a walk in the park. All you need to do is kill Algalon the Observer in 10-player mode at level 80 without anyone in the raid wearing any equipment with an item level higher than is available in 10-player Ulduar. This means you can get use any gear available up to item level 226 (232 for weapons). The reason why I’m reiterating the item level requirements is because even one item that exceeds these requirements will make the achievement void, which wouldn’t make the rest of your group too happy. So it’s always good to check that everyone meets the requirements, even just before the boss fight itself. This is another achievement that I have done before and I’ll be happy to help form a group if you’re in need of another player!
- A level 80 character is required, preferably with XP turned off to avoid accidentally leveling up
- No gear lower than item level 226 (232 for weapons)
- Some knowledge of the boss encounter and your role
- <Name>, Herald of the Titans title
3. Warlord of Draenor Achievement
There’s no complexity in this one as you simply have to kill 500 players of each race on the opposite faction, on Draenor. It’s an easy achievement but it’s really tedious to complete. The good thing is that as you kill 500 of each race, you’ll earn a separate achievement and a title along with it, giving you 8 titles in total, while getting the Warlord of Draenor title finished. Ashran is a great place for this because that’s where you’re likely to get most of the kills, or you could just find a group and repeatedly kill a willing player over and over at a graveyard, which can be much faster, especially for the races that aren’t played as much. Another great thing is that for each person in your group (not raid) who are on same quest, you gain +1 on the counter. So with five people on the same quest, you will gain +5 on the kill counter. It’ll take longer now that there aren’t nearly as many players currently playing than when I was able to finish it in December 2014, but it can still be done! By the time Legion launches however, it’ll be an incredible pain to finish because there will barely be anyone on Draenor. It’s an awesome title though!
- A level 2 Gladiator’s Sanctum in your Garrison to access the quests
- Kill 500 players of each race on the opposite faction only on Draenor
- Wouldn’t recommend switching factions or servers if you’re in the middle of a quest, otherwise it will reset your progress on it
- Kill 100 players in the Highmaul Coliseum (this one doesn’t take so long)
4. Transmog(rification) for Legion’s Wardrobe System
With the arrival of Legion, we all know that one of the big features is the Wardrobe system aka. Diablo 3’s transmog system, where the appearances you unlock are available account-wide. With the content at a still, it’s the perfect time to get your hands on some transmog gear from any raid, dungon, quest or world drop to make sure you look your best. Time to get busy!
5. ‘Khan’ Title
Fancy farmin’ those Battleground achievements to become a ‘Khan’? This achievement requires that you complete the ‘Master of’ achievements for the Battle of Gilneas, Twin Peaks, Temple of Kotmogu, Isle of Conquest and Silvershard Mines. For each of these, you’ll need to do a number of individual achievements to finish them and once you complete these five, you’ll be rewarded with the ‘Khan’ title. A well deserved title for anyone who works on it! Though it’ll probably be a good idea to get this done with a premade group to better your chances.
- Master of the Battle for Gilneas
- Master of Twin Peaks
- Master of Temple of Kotmogu
- Master of Isle of Conquest
- Master of Silvershard Mines
- <Name> Khan title
6. Legendary Ring before the quest line is removed in Legion
Before the next expansion, Legion, the legendary ring won’t be available, much like the Legendaries in Mists of Pandaria. If you still haven’t started the quest line, you’ll still have enough time until August to get your ring and even fully upgrade it. The downside is that it’s a dreary quest line, unlike with the scenarios during the Mists of Pandaria legendary quest line. You’ll have to deal with the shipyard at your Garrison, which isn’t exactly the definition of fun.
7. The Argent Champion title
This achievement one of my favourites because it grants the title, The Argent Champion. It’s a great title for you role-players or Paladins! To get this title, you’ll need to reach exalted status with The Argent Dawn and The Argent Crusade factions. You should be aware that you’ll have to get both factions to exalted on one character and doing it across two won’t work, unlike other metas. It takes a while, but it’s worth it.
- Exalted status with The Argent Dawn and The Argent Crusade factions
- <Name>, The Argent Champion title
